A new month and another terrifying Der Spiegel cover. Following the cover from late February—which played on everyone’s fears with a killer robot—Der Spiegel is at it again. “Is AI making us stupid?” asks the German weekly magazine in a rather questionable illustration.
Headlines like these are nothing new. As early as the summer of 2008, the American magazine The Atlantic asked, “Is Google Making Us Stupid?”
Eighteen years later, we all know the answer: No!
In 2026, the question we’re more likely to ask is: Is Der Spiegel making us stupid?
